Spring Break Science - Offered during months of March and April
Are you thinking about or planning on visiting Jekyll during the months of March and April? If so, we have some great programs for you! Join us from 10:45-11:45 most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for our family friendly Spring Break Science programming for only $6/child and $4/adult (general admission included!). Activities include Tuesday’s Creepy Crawlers (Hands-on Herpetology Program), Wednesday’s Mid-Morning Brunch (Live Exhibit Feeding Program), and Thursday’s What’s Up Dock? (Hands-on Marine Organisms Study). Give us a call or email to sign up. Walk-ins are always welcome!
Ongoing Special Programs - Home School Days
At the 4-H Tidelands Nature Center we encourage learning by doing. Our enthusiastic educators encourage excitement and wonder of the natural world. Jekyll’s pristine natural environment is the perfect setting for a one of a kind educational experience. Our 4-H Tidelands Home School Days are wonderful opportunity for your children to learn about the coast this spring!
Our Home School Days are open to all school-age students. Programs run select Fridays this spring (Feb- April) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Program dates are as follows: Feb. 13th, Feb. 27th, March 13th, March 20th, April 10th, and April 24th. Program themes vary each date: 4-H Tidelands Home School Days Program Schedule. Cost is $10 per person (children AND adults). Students can participate in a single day or sign up for sign up for multiple programs. All classes are rain or shine, so please make sure your students are dressed appropriately for the outdoors. Parent should attend class with child (or make arrangements for another parent who is also attending to be responsible for your child). 4-H Tidelands Nature Center
Tidelands Nature Center offers hands-on marine environmental science programs for the general public and school groups, kayak tours, and live animal exhibits.
Come meet a sea turtle, explore our touch tanks, and observe live alligators, snakes, fish, crabs and many other animals native to Georgia's coast in our exhibit gallery.
Take a guided kayak tour of Jekyll's salt marsh ecosystem.
Rent a canoe or paddleboat and enjoy fishing or a relaxing paddle on the pristine salt pond, adjacent to Tidelands.
Nature walks and other special programs for families and for school and scout groups are available throughout the year. Learn about Jekyll's coastal ecosystems with one of our guides as you explore Jekyll's beach, forest and marsh.
