4-H Tidelands Nature Center: Exhibit Area

Saltwater Exhibit

Our main saltwater exhibit area features saltwater aquariums with various species of fish and invertebrates. Take a closer look at a few of these species in our touch tanks! This area also features a juvenile Loggerhead Sea Turtle.

Shrimp trawl - Our Georgia shrimp trawl exhibit features an interactive multimedia kiosk where you can watch underwater video of dolphins and sea turtles interacting with shrimp nets, and learn about Georgia's commercial and recreational fisheries. The exhibit also includes live shrimp and a scale-model shrimp net and Turtle Excluder Device (TED).

Loggerhead Sea Turtle - Loggerheads are Georgia's primary nesting marine turtle. While Green, Leatherback, Hawksbill, and Kemp's Ridley sea turtles can also be found off Georgia's coast, the Loggerhead is the most abundant. The loggerheads at Tidelands were typically stragglers (the last individual in the nest) and will be released when they have reached a decent size.
